KORG SQD-1 (1986) MIDI RECORDER BY KORG

The SQD-1 MIDI Recorder was launched by Korg in 1986. It's a two-track MIDI sequencer with an internal memory with a capacity of about 15 000 notes. Data is saved and loaded to and from a Quick Disk (Quick Disk, QD - launched by Mitsumi ca. 1985). The SQD-1 has one main track and one sub track for recording performances. The workflow consisted of first recording a performance (bass or rhythmic) to the main track, then record the next perfomance onto the sub track. If no further editing was needed on the sub track performance, this track was bounced onto the main track freeing up the sub track. A new performance could be recorded on the sub track and bounced onto the main track and so on. The main track could hold 16 MIDI-channels, and a limited set of edit functions was available; Revision and editing could be performed on recorded data in divisions of one bar. Edits available was Copy, Insert, Delete, Blank, Erase.
